Upcoming is our first concert in Tunbridge Wells at a wonderful venue, the Church of King Charles the Martyr. We have chosen a programme of some of our favourite string trio repertoire which includes Schubert’s String Trio in One Movement, and Beethoven’s Trio in G with it’s virtuosic last movement – a few notes to learn there! In between we have some lesser-known pieces which are all very rewarding to play and to listen to. Mozart composed several beautiful Preludes to precede arrangements of fugues by some of the Bach family which work very nicely for the ensemble. The Sibelius Suite is an early work, written when he was still a student but you can already hear the musical language that will later on make his music unique. The final work in the programme is a fantastic string trio by Howard Blake. This short 3 movement piece is wonderfully accessible and a pleasure to play.
We are looking forward to playing at this lovely church which is well worth a visit!
